Thankful for the small beginnings.

Yesterday morning was definitely one of the coldest mornings we've had this year. When I woke up my head was literally freezing cold, almost to the point of hurting (mental note: beanie next time!) I mean, I know it doesn't compare to a New York or London Winter.. but still, yesterday was pretty cold. :)

Anyway, so I opened my curtains, wincing with the hope that even though there was no sign of the sun's rays shining from underneath the curtain, there was still a chance the sun could be shining.

But alas, it was not to be. Well at least that's what it looked like.

The photo above was taken yesterday as we sat down at Carousel Cafe for a friend's birthday brunch. (PS.. highly recommend the Salmon Omlette with Dill.. yum.) The sixteen of us all got chatting, and before we knew it, it was 12:00pm. We looked outside, amazed. The fog had cleared and there was not a cloud in the sky. The sun was beaming over Albert Park Lake, the swans were gliding across the water and the faithful joggers were out in full force. My heart was so happy!

And so as I made my way through the rest of the Queens Birthday Holiday with thanksgiving in my heart.. I began to see that a morning does not determine the outcome of a day.  And so it is with us.. our next season is not determined by what we are facing now. Here are some of the things I was thankful for yesterday..

Thankful for the stunning tree-lined streets in Albert Park.

Thankful for beautiful, fresh food. (Stay tuned for more pics and store info..)

Thankful for gourmet treats.. (This place reminded me of a mini Dean & Deluca in the States.)

Thankful just to look at these beauties.. :)

Thankful for friends. xx

Thankful for beautiful homewares and pretty things.. (More store info to come..)

Thankful for trinkets and treasures..

Thankful for afternoon tea at a dear friend's house..

And yes.. thankful for teacups.. which of course make everything better.

So.. even when we may not be able to see through the fog right this very moment, there really is something good waiting just around the corner. So we're not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it may look like things are falling apart on us, we lift our eyes. Our hard times are nothing compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebrations prepared for us. There's far more here than meets the eye!

Happy Tuesday and big shout out to my friend Heidi.. Happy Birthday!

PS.. chin up ladies (and gents) the shortest day of the year is June 21 and then.. each day is progressively a little bit longer than the one before. Soooo.... it's basically a countdown to Summer from there!
