Finding joy in the season.

Well, we are now in our fifth day of Winter. I don't know about you, but sometimes when you wake up to another day of rain, it can be hard not to focus on the fact that we still have almost three months until Spring. But this morning I woke up and decided in my heart that my mission from now on was to not to focus on the negative characteristics that might be associated with Winter (and my deep longing to be lying on a beach!).. but to purposely find joy in this season.

The photo above was taken the other morning when I was out walking. These little flowers look much bigger than they are. They are actually only about 5mm in diameter. Such beauty in a tiny thing. I almost brushed past them but they caught my eye. Looking at this tiny piece of creation, I realised that I'm always looking for beauty in big things. The sunsets.. the huge roses in bloom.. longing for the big changes in life.. the obviously noticeable beauty. But I need to notice the little things too. I have been encouraged by these words below..

He has made everything beautiful in its time.

So this morning I purposed in my heart to stop looking at my circumstances, and to declare a season of joy. To be thankful for the little things in my life. There will never again be a fifth of June 2012. Never again will there be a Winter 2012. Despite what circumstance (or the rain) might say, there is plenty of joy in this season, and I am going to find it.

So, whatever season you are facing, be assured it is brimming with purpose. Let us lift our eyes, let fear be washed away with the truth that we are loved, and run on purpose. Let us look up and remember that we truly have been chosen for such a time as this, and that joy is waiting in this season. We might just have to search for it.

Have a beautiful day.

PS - even though this photo was taken on a yukky rainy morning.. it still looks so pretty don't you think... :)
